Meet the Owners
Meet the owners of Stands Alone Canine Solutions located in St. Joseph, Missouri! If you are
reading this, thank you so much for stopping by. We are the Harris family, Cortney, and Dalynne.
We also have two kids, ages 12 and 5, but we keep them private for safety reasons.
We know that trusting someone else with your dog can be hard to do, but we are determined to
earn your trust. We want you to know our story, how we got here, and why we chose dog
training as our small business. We are so excited to start our new business adventure in St. Joe
and surrounding areas.
My name is Dalynne and I manage our small business, while my husband, Cortney, is the lead
dog trainer. We are originally from St. Joe and we met at Benton High School. Cortney was
signed up for the Army and set to leave later in 2009, so we got married before he was sent to
Fort Campbell, KY. He spent 4 years and one tour to Afghanistan before getting medically
discharged due to injuries from IEDs. After that, we decided to stay in Clarksville, TN where we lived for 13 years!
From there, Cortney had many odd jobs until 2019 when he realized he wanted to train dogs.
He has come to believe that the reason so many people have to give up their dogs is simply
because they don’t know how to communicate and work with them. This causes a disconnect
between pets and pet owners, and Cortney is here to help bridge the gap in the relationship
between our clients and their dogs through training and education. Cortney has completed a six-month Master Dog Training program from Highland Canine Training: School for Dog Trainers where he has learned all things about dogs and how to better serve people with their dogs.
In 2022, God called us back to Missouri and we continued our business in St. Joseph. We knew
that dog training was what we were meant to do. Our goal is to offer permanent solutions to dog
parents--not just temporary fixes. This starts with the owners putting in the effort and using the
training tools that we give them to make dog training work. Like children, dogs aren’t
born knowing what to do. It’s the owner's job to apply the proper time and discipline to
bring out the best in their dog.
